Support in drafting National Anti-Corruption Strategy

Minister without Portfolio Zoran Miljanić met with Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, Director of the Revenue and Customs Administration Rade Milošević, and Director of the Cadastre and State Property Administration Koča Đurišić. The meeting discussed the formation of the National Anti-Corruption Council and the drafting of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.

Miljanić spoke about the preparations for the formation of the Council and the drafting of the Strategy, i.e. about contacts with the leaders of domestic and foreign institutions that will be partners in the fight against corruption.

The officials agreed that it is necessary to quickly form the Council, and to consider the possibility of hiring a team of domestic and foreign experts who will contribute to the work of the Council and the drafting of the Strategy.

Miljanić pointed out that Montenegro needs an effective fight against corruption at all levels, and that the strategic partners in this work are the Ministry of Finance, the Revenue and Customs Administration and the Cadastre and State Property Administration.

Minister Damjanović expressed expectations that the quick formation of the Council and its efficient work could contribute to recognising the progress in the fight against corruption in the next report of the European Commission.

It was jointly stated that close institutional cooperation is necessary for success, which will be encouraged through the election of members of the Council and defined in the Strategy.

Rade Milošević especially emphasised the importance of interdepartmental cooperation and defining the competencies of the Council, which would enable its efficiency.

Koča Đurišić pointed out that the database of the Cadastre and State Property Administration could be of great use in combating corruption.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the models for financing the Council and drafting the Strategy.
