Deputy Prime Minister for Political System and Internal Policy and Minister of Defence Raško Konjević met today with Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro Oana Cristina Popa. European integration will be the focus of the work of the new Government, which will be committed to reforms, said Konjević.

Montenegro's European integration process must be unblocked and Montenegro must move more resolutely towards meeting the interim benchmarks in key chapters. We will continue to fully align with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, said Minister Konjević, adding that there is no alternative to Montenegro's European and Euro-Atlantic path.

In the context of the war in Ukraine, Konjević pointed out the importance of a united and decisive response from Europe and added that Montenegro is considering additional modalities for providing support to Ukraine.

Ambassador Popa wished Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Raško Konjević successful work during his mandate, emphasising that the EU appreciates the new Government's commitment to European integration. She stressed that Montenegro, as the most advanced candidate country for membership in the European Union, can count on the full support of the EU in its efforts to make progress in key reforms. Popa pointed out Montenegro's full alignment with the European Union's foreign policy, as proof of its commitment to common values.

The Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro will continue its dynamic cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and other departments, in order to make the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union as successful as possible, it was concluded at the meeting.
