Vladimir Joković

Vladimir Joković is a Montenegrin politician, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management in the 43rd and 44th Governments, former Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for the economic system, and a former karate athlete. He was born on January 2, 1967, in Plužine. He graduated from the Electrical Engineering School in Nikšić and studied at the Faculty of Philosophy. He is the founder of a private company that has been operating successfully in Montenegro for three decades.
He has been a member of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP) since its founding and has been elected party president twice. He served two terms as a Member of the Parliament of Montenegro and chaired the parliamentary Committee on Economy, Finance, and Budget. As Minister of Agriculture, he implemented significant activities aimed at developing the agricultural sector. He particularly distinguished himself in regional cooperation by participating in meetings of ministers of agriculture of Southeast Europe, where initiatives to improve agriculture and rural development in the region were discussed.
He is involved in international projects such as the second phase of the “Gora” project in cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), which aims to support climate change adaptation in the northern municipalities of Montenegro. He actively supports local producers by working to improve agricultural infrastructure and ensure favorable conditions for agricultural development. Through cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), he works on accelerating EU accession negotiations and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In his sports career, he won 15 gold medals at Yugoslav championships, was a runner-up at the European Championships and the World Cup, and a winner of Balkan and Mediterranean competitions. He was a member of the Yugoslav national team for ten years and served as President of the Karate Federation of Montenegro, holding the status of a top-level athlete. He is a recipient of the Vidovdan Charter and other awards.
He is married and the father of three children.
