Montenegro and Slovenia to finance thirty joint research projects in 2021-2022

Pursuant to the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, signed on 2 June 2008, the Ministry of Science of Montenegro and the Public Agency for Research Activities of Republic of Slovenia have announced a call for applications for co-financing scientific and technological cooperation between Montenegro and Republic of Slovenia for the period of 2021-2022. The call for applications was announced on 13 September 2019.

Following the results of the evaluation conducted by both parties, in accordance with the established conditions and priorities of the call for applications and the available budget of the two countries, the Joint Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Montenegro and the Republic of Slovenia has, choosing from among 56 project applications, approved 30 projects for funding, agreeing on and signing the sixth session protocol electronically.

The projects will be implemented in the form of joint visits (travel expenses and per diems) of researchers from Montenegro and the Republic of Slovenia, who will take part in joint research projects

The Ministry of Science will provide EUR 1,000 for each project for the Montenegrin team per year, whereas the Public Agency for Research Activities of the Republic of Slovenia will provide EUR 1,000 per year for the Slovenian team. In addition, 12 projects in which young researchers from Montenegro will implement longer stays will receive additional funding by the Slovenian side, in the amount of EUR 1,650 for the entire two-year period.

The planned period of project co-financing is from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2022. In the event that the health situation related to the COVID-19 pandemic prevents the commencement of project implementation on 1 January 2021, the extension of the deadline for project implementation will be regulated by an annex.
