Abazović meets with Cavusoglu: EU enlargement process must remain alive

The unquestionable and comprehensive support of Turkey is important to us, especially in the economic field, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović during a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Abazović and Çavuşoğlu agreed that it is now more necessary than ever that the EU enlargement process remains alive.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu congratulated Abazović on receiving a mandate to form a new government and stressed that the Western Balkan countries should not lose hope in the context of European integration.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked for the invitation to participate in a prestigious event, such as the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, and expressed confidence that the two countries would continue to jointly contribute to further strengthening friendly ties and cooperation.

Abazović and Çavuşoğlu discussed Montenegro's tourism potential and investment opportunities on the country's coast. In that sense, Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that the municipality of Ulcinj has incredible potential for investment in tourism, drawing a parallel with Turkish Antalya.

Speaking about the current geopolitical situation, the two officials agreed that it is necessary to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible and end the humanitarian crisis in Eastern Europe.
