Abazović meets with representatives of former workers of Bauxite Mines

Published on: Jan 18, 2022 11:00 AM Author: Office of the Deputy Prime Minister

Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met today with representatives of former workers of Nikšić-based Bauxite Mines. Given that a transaction was made yesterday regarding the purchase of the Administration Building and that about 870,000 euros were paid, we consider it fair that the Bankruptcy Trustee, in accordance with the law, should prioritise payment to workers, it was said after the meeting.

DPM Abazović pointed out that this should be especially kept in mind, knowing that numerous proceedings are taking place before the competent Prosecutor's Office related to companies that participated in possible abuses during the Bauxite bankruptcy process in the previous period.

We appeal to the State Prosecutor's Office to finally prosecute this case and bring it to an end, because the workers are running out of energy, said Abazović.

At today's meeting, Abazović and former workers of the Bauxite Mines discussed the issue of privatisation and controversy that accompanied the bankruptcy process.

This is the second in a series of meetings of former workers of the Bauxite Mines in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. They previously met with DPM's Legal Adviser Ivo Šoć.
