Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met with British Prime Minister's Special Envoy to the Western Balkans Sir Stuart Peach and British Ambassador to Montenegro Karen Maddocks. Montenegro and the United Kingdom are continuously committed to a common goal - preserving regional stability and security, said PM Abazović.

Sir Stuart Peach pointed out that the new circumstances caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine shook the security architecture of Europe, and that in that context, the Western Balkans represents a particular challenge with potential adverse impact.

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović thanked for the support of the United Kingdom in the fight against organised crime and transnational smuggling, emphasising that customs cooperation and cyber security cooperation are at a very high level.

Montenegro and the United Kingdom have excellent cooperation in the field of defence. This is of fundamental importance for Montenegro in the context of the growing security challenges and risks facing the region of the Western Balkans and the whole world, said Prime Minister Abazović.

The officials agreed that intensive and close security cooperation between the two countries should be continued, in order to prevent the influence of third parties which could jeopardize the stability of Montenegro and its full commitment to EU values and Euro-Atlantic integration.
