Abazović, Rinkevičs: Montenegro committed to European integration, NATO membership and good neighbourly cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.

DPM Abazović said that Montenegro and Latvia share a lot of similarities and a clear common vision within the NATO membership and the European future.

Deputy Prime Minister Abazović thanked Latvia, which provides continuous support to Montenegro in the field of European integration, and emphasised our country's commitment to meeting provisional and final benchmarks. In that sense, Abazović stressed that Montenegro is committed to the key principles of foreign policy – the alliance within the NATO, European integration and good neighbourly cooperation. The Deputy Prime Minister said that Montenegro is open to any form of economic cooperation with friendly Latvia.

Rinkēvičs pointed out that the relations between Latvia and Montenegro are characterized by partnership, openness, and continuous mutual support within bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Rinkēvičs said that, in addition to the alliance within NATO, relations between the two countries are marked by Latvia's strong support for Montenegro's reform efforts on the path to the European Union.
