Our ambition is to shift the focus from the past to the future. Montenegro is the best bridge between the European Union and the Western Balkans, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium Sophie Wilmès.

DPM Abazović pointed out that the two countries have excellent bilateral relations and that Montenegro owes special gratitude to Belgium for its continuous commitment and support in achieving our foreign policy goals. In that context, Deputy Prime Minister Abazović emphasised Belgium's important contribution to Montenegro's membership in NATO, but also the support for our European path.

Speaking about Montenegro as a recognised tourist destination, Abazović invited Belgian tourists to visit Montenegro, guaranteeing that our country is a safe tourist destination.

Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès stated that the progress in the field of the rule of law and the results in the fight against corruption are the most important for Montenegro's European integration. Wilmès pointed out that Belgium supports Montenegro's European path and that it is a reliable partner of our country in that process, emphasising Belgium's position that all Western Balkan countries should be part of the EU.

The two officials noted that the two countries have traditionally good relations with a tendency to deepen relations in terms of economic cooperation, environmental protection, education and culture.
