Bečić: Murino reminds us of the cost of war and the sanctity of peace

Today, with sorrow and respect, we remember Murino—a small, peaceful town where, 26 years ago, a quiet day was shattered by the sound of aircraft during the NATO bombing. On that day, six innocent lives were lost, including three children.
For the first time, Montenegro has acknowledged its responsibility to at least partially correct a decades-long injustice, with the Government’s decision to allocate €100,000 to each of the victims’ families. Montenegro has not forgotten you—and never will.
Murino stands as a solemn reminder of the cost of war and a lasting testament to the sanctity of peace. Let this tragedy serve as our permanent vow that dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect remain the only path forward.
Eternal glory to Julija, Olivera, Miroslav, Vukić, Milka, and Manojlo.
May it never be forgotten. May it never happen again—to anyone, anywhere.
