Bečić: No one is above the law in Montenegro anymore

Today’s carefully planned and flawlessly executed operation by the Police Directorate, which resulted in the deportation and arrest of two individuals wanted by Montenegrin authorities for multiple serious criminal offenses, reaffirms—once again—our firm stance: in Montenegro, there are no longer any protected or untouchable individuals, and no one can evade justice.
As the Coordinator of the Bureau for Operational Coordination, I would like to express deep gratitude to the competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates for their outstanding efficiency in the deportation process. I also extend thanks to our international partners from EUROPOL, the FBI, DEA, and AFP, whose substantial support was instrumental in the successful execution of the historic “General” operation, through which 19 individuals have been prosecuted for cocaine trafficking.
This operation sends a clear and unwavering message: no individual is above the state.
Today’s action further confirms Montenegro’s growing international reputation, the strength of inter-agency cooperation, and the invaluable support of the Ministry of Interior and the Police Directorate. It also demonstrates the importance of strong collaboration with the Special State Prosecutor’s Office.
Effective cooperation among law enforcement bodies, mutual trust, and the evident international respect and confidence of our partners are the foundation of Montenegro’s significant and ongoing achievements in the fight against organized crime.
