Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, on the sidelines of the Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels.

During the meeting, Borrell welcomed the exceptional efforts of the 44th Government to intensify the negotiation process. He emphasised the dynamics of implementing reforms, especially in areas related to Chapters 23 and 24, through the completion of the Constitutional Court, the appointment of missing members of the Judicial Council and the Supreme State Prosecutor, thereby taking a significant step towards fulfilling the interim benchmarks for those chapters.

We appreciate the reform efforts and encourage you to seize the opportunity that has now arisen. We look forward to working together on Montenegro's path toward a shared future in the European Union, stated Borrell.

Borrell commended Montenegro's full alignment with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, emphasising that it demonstrates a strategic commitment to the EU.

The meeting emphasised the continued high-quality contribution of Montenegro to EU missions and operations dedicated to common security and defence.

Given the increased risk of cyber attacks due to the current geopolitical situation, the parties agreed on EU support to enhance Montenegro's current operational capabilities for detecting, preventing, and repelling attacks on its digital infrastructure and systems.
