Deputy Prime Minister Budimir Aleksić meets with Metropolitan Joanikije

Deputy Prime Minister for Education, Science and Relations with Religious Communities Budimir Aleksić met today with Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Joanikije at the Cetinje Monastery.

During the meeting, it was assessed that relations between the state and the Church are based on mutual respect and understanding, with significant scope for further strengthening dialogue and cooperation. It was noted that dialogue is essential for Montenegro in overcoming divisions at all levels, and that both the state and the Church must work persistently toward this goal, each within the scope of their respective competences.

Special attention was given to charitable activities and the strengthening of empathy within society, in which the Church plays a significant role. Institutional mechanisms that would enable joint action aimed at helping the most vulnerable categories of the population were also discussed.
