Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović meets with Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović met today with His Eminence, Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the benefits of Montenegro’s membership in the European Union, emphasizing that a significant scope of work lies ahead in order to complete the negotiation process by the end of 2026.

In this context, it was noted that European integration represents a comprehensive process involving society as a whole and all of its stakeholders, among which religious communities play an important and recognized role.

Special attention was devoted to issues of preserving peace and stability, promoting tolerance, fostering mutual respect between the state and religious communities, as well as strengthening trust and contributing jointly to overall social development.
