The members of the European Parliament are ready to give all their support in order for Montenegro's reform path to succeed, Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović pointed out after last night's working dinner with the delegation of the European Parliament.

In addition to the EU Ambassador to Montenegro, H. E. Oana Cristina Popa, as a host, and DPM Dritan Abazović, MEPs Vladimír Bilčík (EPP), Daniel Freund (Greens) and Thijs Reuten (S&D) also attended the working dinner.

DPM Abazović said that he spoke with the MEPs openly, friendly and professionally about all the challenges we face. Furthermore, he pointed out that the success of Montenegro is important not only for our country, but also for the region and the European Union.

Emphasising the importance of political dialogue as a mechanism for resolving the political crisis and unblocking the Parliament as a precondition for the reforms that await us in the area of rule of law, Abazović stressed that Montenegro, despite all obstacles, has achieved enviable results in fighting corruption and crime. In that sense, the Deputy Prime Minister informed the MEPs about the historical seizure of cocaine in Montenegro, the attack on tobacco smugglers, the arrest of leaders of transnational criminal clans, but also the importance of adopting the Law on the Origin of Property in the Parliament of Montenegro.
