DPM Ibrahimović takes part in 2026 Dubrovnik Forum

Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović took part in the two-day 19th Dubrovnik Forum titled “The Age of Multipolarity: Many Paths, One Future,” at the invitation of Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman.
During a panel discussion and bilateral meetings, DPM Ibrahimović reaffirmed Montenegro’s position as a leader in European integration and a partner in strengthening regional stability.

This year’s forum provided a platform for a broad exchange of views on key regional and global issues, with a special focus on the current security architecture of Europe and geopolitical challenges in the era of multipolarity. Numerous sessions emphasised the importance of a stronger multilateral approach and joint action by states in order to preserve long-term peace and stability on the European continent.
In that regard, the participants highlighted that the stability of the Western Balkans, through intensified regional cooperation and the acceleration of integration processes, is crucial for the region’s resilience to contemporary global challenges. In parallel, the importance of continuous support from European and international partners in implementing reforms that ensure economic and social progress was recognised.
Minister Ibrahimović took part in the panel titled “The EU and the Western Balkans: Resolving Unfinished Business Together.” During the discussion, he pointed out the importance of accelerating integration processes and strengthening regional cooperation as key factors for the long-term stability and prosperity of the region. He further stated that joint action and a focus on the European agenda represent the only sustainable path toward overcoming contemporary challenges and securing the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

Ibrahimović stated that “Montenegro today has a historic opportunity to become the next full member of the EU. We believe this is a responsibility that goes beyond national frameworks and that Montenegro’s successful European story can serve as a positive example and encouragement for countries in the region, confirming that reforms, dialogue and good neighbourly relations deliver concrete results.”
The establishment of a special Ad hoc Working Group for drafting the Accession Treaty clearly confirms that Montenegro has already entered the final stage of negotiations with the European Union. “Our progress is a strong encouragement for the entire region and proof that the enlargement policy is alive,” Ibrahimović added.
On the margins of the Forum, DPM Ibrahimović also met with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Tone Kajzer, where, during an open and friendly conversation, the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries were confirmed. These relations are characterised by a traditional partnership and a shared European vision. Mutual commitment was expressed to further strengthening overall cooperation, with a special focus on Slovenia’s continuous and strong support for accelerating Montenegro’s European integration process, both at political and expert levels.

Montenegro remains strongly committed to a credible and predictable pro-European foreign policy, as well as constructive dialogue and full cooperation at the international level, Ibrahimović concluded, assessing that through active participation in regional initiatives and consistent fulfillment of obligations from the European agenda, the country continuously confirms its role of a stable, reliable and recognizable regional partner.
