DPM Ivanović receives newly appointed Ambassador of Hungary for an inaugural visit

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović received the newly appointed Ambassador of Hungary to Montenegro, H.E. Péter Hetei for an inaugural visit.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović welcomed the Ambassador and wished him a successful mandate, expressing confidence that his diplomatic work will further contribute to strengthening the friendly and partnership relations between Montenegro and Hungary. He emphasized that Montenegro regards Hungary as a reliable and significant partner, particularly in the context of European integration and regional cooperation. Ivanović recalled that one of the key priorities of the Government is the acceleration and consistent implementation of reform processes, achieving concrete and measurable results, and he thanked Hungary for its strong and continuous support for Montenegro’s European path and the European Union enlargement policy.

Ambassador Hetei expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized that during his mandate he will be fully committed to further enhancing bilateral relations. He confirmed that Hungary remains a strong advocate of the European Union enlargement policy and will continue to provide strong support to Montenegro in the negotiation process, including expert and technical assistance. The Ambassador also briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on the results of the recently held elections in Hungary and the prospects for the formation of a new government in the coming weeks.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović expressed the expectation that successful cooperation between the two countries will continue with the future government in Hungary, once it is formed.

The interlocutors also agreed that there is significant potential for further strengthening economic cooperation, particularly through encouraging investments, intensifying business contacts, and improving collaboration in the field of education and scholarships.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was assessed that the relations between Montenegro and Hungary are characterized by stable partnership and a high degree of mutual trust, with both sides expressing readiness to further enhance and concretize cooperation in the coming period through joint initiatives.
