DPM Koprivica meets with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye Ayda Ünlü

Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Judiciary and Anti-Corruption Momo Koprivica met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro Ayda Ünlü.
Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica welcomed Ambassador Ünlü and wished her a successful mandate in Montenegro, emphasizing that relations between the two countries are traditionally good and friendly.
I had very good cooperation with the previous ambassador and I believe that the high-quality interstate relations between Montenegro and Türkiye will continue in the coming period, with further strengthening of cooperation, Koprivica said.
He informed the Ambassador about the key priorities of the Government of Montenegro, emphasizing that European Union membership, strengthening the rule of law, and implementing economic reforms represent the three fundamental pillars of the Government’s current policy.
The Government of Montenegro is strongly focused on alignment with European standards and on reforms that will further strengthen institutions, particularly in the areas of the judiciary and the fight against corruption, he added.
Koprivica particularly emphasized constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening the independence of the judiciary and the Central Bank, as well as preventing corruption, along with the adoption of the Law on the Government and other measures intended to strengthen legal and ethical integrity and combat corruption.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye stressed that her goal during her mandate is to further improve relations between Türkiye and Montenegro, noting that she arrived in the country with great respect for its history and tradition.
Ambassador Ünlü expressed Türkiye’s support for Montenegro’s European path, emphasizing that justice is the foundation of every society, as well as a key element on the path toward membership in the European Union. She also highlighted the important role of Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica’s Office in reform processes in the field of the rule of law.
Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica and Ambassador Ünlü agreed that cooperation in the areas of the judiciary and institutional strengthening represents an important opportunity for further improving relations between the two countries.
The Ambassador also expressed her expectation that the number of investments from Türkiye in Montenegro will increase in the coming period, along with greater visibility and intensification of economic cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador noted that Montenegro faces a crucial year on its European path, and wished Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica success in achieving the goals set by his Office and the Government of Montenegro.
