DPM Koprivica receives Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye Barış Kalkavan on farewell visit

Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Judiciary and Anti-Corruption Momo Koprivica received Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye Barış Kalkavan on his farewell visit.

Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica thanked Ambassador Kalkavan for his exceptional contribution to the friendly relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Türkiye, which have been marked by mutual respect and understanding. He underlined that the Government is committed to addressing all issues through constructive dialogue and cooperation in the mutual interest. He also highlighted concrete efforts undertaken by the Government to reform the anti-corruption framework in line with European standards – reforms that will, among other things, improve the long-term legal and business environment, which is important for all existing and potential investors, including Turkish companies. Koprivica expressed confidence in the shared recognition of the need to further strengthen cooperation between the competent authorities of both countries in the areas of security and justice.

Ambassador Kalkavan expressed gratitude for the excellent cooperation with Montenegrin institutions, noting that Montenegro remains one of Türkiye’s most important partners. He informed the Deputy Prime Minister about the results of his four-year mandate, including increased investment volume, enhanced economic cooperation, and numerous investments by Turkish companies.

The two officials agreed that there is a strong foundation for a new chapter of cooperation, particularly in strengthening the rule of law, institutional accountability, and the fight against corruption – key values for Montenegro’s European perspective.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica wished Ambassador Kalkavan success in his future professional endeavors, expressing confidence that the partnership between Montenegro and Türkiye will continue to develop in a spirit of friendship and shared values.
