Germany supports Montenegro's European path

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović met with Ambassador of Germany Robert Weber. We are already taking concrete actions to strengthen the rule of law, which will, in addition to strengthening democracy in our society, accelerate Montenegro's path to the EU, said DPM Marović.

Marović informed the Ambassador about the Government's priorities. In addition to the rule of law, the Government is focused on public administration reform and strengthening the economic standard. She said that the Government, together with other branches of government and participation of civil society, is determined to do everything necessary for Montenegro to reach European standards and become the next EU member.

Ambassador Weber emphasised the importance of a clear majority in the Parliament for reaching a political consensus on the necessary reforms.

Montenegro has shown social maturity during the political transition in the previous period, which has proved that democracy works here. Germany will continue to strongly support your European path, with the expectation that you will accelerate the process of joining the EU with concrete results, the Ambassador said.

The Ambassador said that the focus of cooperation between Montenegro and Germany in the coming period will be in the field of European integration, economy and tourism.
