Marović, Miller: Achieved results confirm that Montenegro is a credible partner of the EU

The new Government is determined to implement all necessary reforms and deliver measurable results. In this way, we confirm that Montenegro is a credible partner of the EU and member states, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović at a meeting with Head of the Unit for Montenegro and Serbia at the European Commission's Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Michael Miller.

Marović said that the Government's key priority is to fulfill the obligations leading to obtaining the final benchmarks in Chapters 23 and 24 by the end of the year, which, as she said, will speed up the complete negotiation process and enable progress in temporarily closing other chapters.

She said that the Government is ready to work on reaching a broader consensus in the Parliament of Montenegro with the aim of making key decisions necessary to fulfill the obligations from the EU agenda.

In that context, she pointed out that independent judicial and prosecutorial institutions are key to building a society that functions according to European principles and standards.

European integration is the unifying factor of Montenegrin society and all political factors, and we will build the basis for securing consensus for the implementation of key reforms in the EU accession process, Marović said.

Miller said that it is a good time for Montenegro to show measurable results in meeting the provisional benchmarks in Chapters 23 and 24.

Furthermore, he encouraged Montenegro to continue to achieve good results.
