Gorčević with Adad: Congratulations on Closing the Chapter and France’s Support for Continuing Reforms

France will continue to provide full support to Montenegro in implementing reforms leading to EU membership, it was stated during talks between Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević and French Minister for Europe Benjamin Adad.
Gorčević met with Adad in Brussels, on the sidelines of the General Affairs Council (GAC) session.
Minister Adad congratulated Montenegro on the closing of negotiating Chapter 32 – Financial Control, emphasizing that he is pleased that Montenegro continues with reforms, showing that it genuinely wants to be part of the European Union. He stated that France will continue to provide expert support in areas of mutual interest, with the aim of more efficiently and effectively fulfilling obligations in the European integration process.
Minister Gorčević thanked him for the support and stated that Montenegro will continue to justify the trust of EU Member States through results on the ground. She said that the Government, together with the European Commission, has defined the goal of closing all chapters by the end of the year and that the entire society is committed to achieving this goal.
“We are pleased that already at the beginning of this crucial 2026, we have the support of all Member States for the successful continuation of closing negotiating chapters. Every step closer to membership for us is a step toward a better life for our citizens. That is precisely why we are determined to bring Montenegro into the EU in 2028. This is the historic task of this Government, and I believe it will also be the crowning achievement of this composition of the European Commission,” Gorčević said.
