Ministry of European Affairs
The Ministry of European Affairs manages and coordinates Montenegro’s process of stabilization, association, and accession to the European Union. The Ministry monitors the implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, prepares strategic documents, and participates in the work of all bodies and intergovernmental conferences within the accession negotiations.
The Ministry coordinates the cooperation of state authorities with EU institutions and Member States, the harmonization of national legislation with the EU acquis, as well as the preparation of the national version of the acquis, including translation, editing, and management of information databases.
It also coordinates EU-funded programmes and projects, including cross-border and territorial cooperation, macro-regional strategies, and other initiatives. It cooperates with the Mission of Montenegro to the EU and the competent authorities regarding personnel matters.
The Ministry manages information systems important for the accession process, monitors the fulfillment of obligations by institutions, informs the public, and implements the communication strategy on EU accession, as well as promotional activities and media coverage analysis of the process.
