Ibrahimović meets with Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović held a meeting with Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš, during which mutual satisfaction with the meeting was expressed and views were exchanged on the significance of the upcoming jubilees for Montenegro.
The central topic of discussion was the commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration proclaiming Montenegro an ecological state. In this context, Prince Nikola Petrović Njegoš presented the project “Small is Beautiful,” which the Petrović-Njegoš Foundation plans to implement to mark this important anniversary, with the aim of promoting ecological values and sustainable development.

The interlocutors also referred to the broader institutional framework for preparations to mark significant national anniversaries, recalling that in November 2025 the Government of Montenegro established a Committee and a Coordination Body for the organization of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence.
Ibrahimović emphasized that, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to organize receptions at all diplomatic and consular missions of Montenegro throughout 2026. The organization of these events has been recognized as an important opportunity for further promotion of Montenegro in the region, Europe, and globally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the interlocutors underlined that through the commemoration of these anniversaries, Montenegro will seek to reaffirm that environmental protection is not only an ecological, but also an economic and social priority, linking environmental values with development and foreign policy objectives and contributing to Montenegro’s positioning as a responsible and reliable partner in this field.
