Ibrahimović, Lawton: G2G Agreement a key step towards tangible results of Montenegro–U.S. strategic partnership

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today in Bled with Daniel Lawton, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western, Central and Southern Europe at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

Ibrahimović expressed satisfaction with the intensity of political dialogue with the United States, stressing that the U.S. is one of Montenegro’s most important strategic partners and allies, and that the two countries share a strong commitment to peace, stability and security.

Montenegro and the United States have a strong and substantive partnership, rooted in shared values and our alliance. Our goal is to further strengthen our existing political and allied partnership through concrete cooperation that delivers tangible results, Ibrahimović said.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation for the Implementation of Strategic Projects (G2G), which entered into force on 13 August and represents an important step in further developing the strategic cooperation between the two countries.

The interlocutors agreed that the Agreement opens up opportunities for stronger ties between Montenegro and the United States and provides an important framework for the implementation of concrete projects and new investments.

We see the G2G Agreement as an important instrument for translating our strategic partnership into concrete projects and tangible results. We want to further strengthen our strong political and allied relations through a greater presence of U.S. companies and the implementation of projects of importance to Montenegro’s development, Ibrahimović said.

The interlocutors confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation and further advance relations between Montenegro and the United States, agreeing that the existing level of partnership provides a strong foundation for its further deepening and the achievement of more concrete results.
