Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović won the "European Minister of the Year" award at the 47th selection of the most successful businesspeople and companies of Southeast and Central Europe, which took place in Sarajevo and was sponsored by the Directorate of the European Independent Agency for the Selection and Promotion of the Most Successful Businesspeople and Companies.

The award was presented during one of the region’s most prestigious events, which for more than four decades has promoted excellence and brought together leading entrepreneurs, managers, public official, and members of the diplomatic community from Southeast and Central Europe. This year’s event placed special emphasis on regional connectivity and economic cohesion as key drivers of development.

Accepting the award before distinguished guests from the region’s political, business and diplomatic communities, DPM Ibrahimović said he viewed the recognition as confirmation of Montenegro’s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, stability and economic development.

"I regard the award presented to me today as a great honour, but also as a clear affirmation of Montenegro’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, stability and economic progress," Ibrahimović stated.

Speaking about the importance of regional cooperation, he emphasised that the traditionally close and friendly relations between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina provide a strong foundation for further strengthening economic ties. He noted that the joint implementation of key regional projects, particularly in the fields of infrastructure and energy, can make a direct and lasting contribution to improving the quality of life for all citizens.

In this context, Ibrahimović recalled that Montenegro, as the leading country in the European integration process in the Western Balkans, strongly and actively supports the European perspective of all its neighbors. He stressed that sustainable economic development, the opening of new markets and strong institutional support for the business sector are among the key prerequisites for building a stable, secure, and prosperous future for the region.

He concluded by reaffirming that Montenegro remains firmly committed to fostering good neighbourly relations, mutual respect and stronger regional partnership as the foundation for full membership in the European family of nations.

The "European Minister of the Year" award represents another acknowledgment of Montenegro’s European policy and its active and distinguished contribution to strengthening regional cooperation, stability and a shared European future.
