Ibrahimović’s statement in New York on the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, I visited the 9/11 Memorial in New York today, a place of lasting remembrance of one of the greatest tragedies of the modern era.

I pay my deepest respects to the 2,977 innocent people who lost their lives that day. Among them were three of our citizens – Simon Marash Dedvukaj, Rrok Camaj and Mon Gjonbalaj.

Today, I paid tribute to them at the place where their names are permanently inscribed among the names of the victims of 9/11. The Memorial remains a place of remembrance, silence and reflection, but also a reminder of the strength of global solidarity that brought people together across the world in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Behind me stands the Oculus, a symbol of renewal and hope. Its architecture reminds us of the strength of people and communities to rise again, rebuild and look towards the future even after the greatest tragedies.

This is also a powerful message of this place – that the memory of the victims will endure, that terrorism must not have the final word, and that solidarity, human dignity and the strength to stand against hatred are stronger than the fear that terrorism seeks to impose.

Montenegro continues to stand with the United States and the American people, in remembrance of the victims and in our shared commitment to peace, freedom and human dignity.

I extend my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, and pay lasting tribute to all the victims.
