Ivanović and Marsico discuss enhancing Montenegro – Argentina cooperation ahead of the 120th anniversary establishment of diplomatic relations

Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović hosted earlier today non-resident Ambassador of Argentina to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, H.E. Osvaldo Marsico, to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations and opportunities to intensify cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting reaffirmed the traditionally friendly relations between Montenegro and Argentina, emphasising the importance of further strengthening political dialogue and developing concrete forms of cooperation. In that regard, they also discussed the forthcoming visit of DPM Ivanović to Argentina to mark the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The visit was recognised as an opportunity to further consolidate friendly ties and promote new joint initiatives.

Particular attention was devoted to the conclusion of bilateral agreements that would establish a formal framework for further cooperation in areas of common interest.

The importance of the Montenegrin diaspora in Argentina was also pointed out, as it represents an important link between the two countries, with particular focus on preserving close ties with the homeland.

Both sides also exchanged views on cooperation within the United Nations and other international organisations, highlighting the importance of regular communication, mutual support for candidacies and coordination on issues of common interest, in accordance with international law and the principles of multilateralism.

DPM Ivanović and Ambassador Marsico reaffirmed their commitment to continuing dialogue and deepening cooperation, expressing confidence that the forthcoming visit to Argentina, in the context of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, would provide further impetus to strengthening the friendship and partnership between Montenegro and Argentina.
