Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, during his visit to the United Kingdom, met with National Security Adviser Stephen Lovegrove.

Prime Minister Krivokapić informed Mr. Lovegrove about the security challenges facing Montenegro, as well as the intensive cooperation that the National Security Agency of Montenegro has with agencies from the region and Euro-Atlantic partners.

The Prime Minister emphasised that security goals cannot be achieved through the separate engagement of any national agency, and that only a partnership and well-intentioned and responsible relationship can lead to a safe and secure flow of people, goods and capital, both in the region and in Europe and beyond, especially in times of extreme epidemiological obstacles.

Modernisation, professionalisation and rationalisation, processes that have affected all services and bodies that manage the state of Montenegro, are also taking place in the National Security Agency of Montenegro. It must be fully focused on the benefit and security of all its citizens and through regional and European cooperation must contribute to the stability of the Western Balkans, which today consists of several countries, but which all have the same, European goal. The Government is aware of the specific importance and work of the Agency and all reorganisations and new personnel solutions that are being implemented or will be implemented, will happen with full responsibility and expert support that we expect from reputable partners, such as the United Kingdom, Krivokapić said.

National Security Adviser Lovegrove expressed satisfaction with the first meeting with Prime Minister Krivokapić. Lovegrove said that they would support Montenegro in its clearly set priorities on the path to strengthening institutional capabilities and capacities to respond to challenges, risks and threats in cyberspace. He especially welcomed the signing of the Memorandum on Cyber Partnership during the recent visit of the HMS Richmond to Montenegro. He expressed great satisfaction that we share the same values on the path of reforms, and that we can count on their technical and expert assistance.

Head of the National Security Agency of Montenegro Dejan Vukšić also attended the meeting.
