Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, during his official visit to Japan, where he attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, met today with Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga.

Prime Minister Krivokapić thanked for the warm welcome, expressing respect for the organisers, who managed to organise such a large competition as the Olympics during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Japan has proven its character, tenacity, organisation and determination, as well as its willingness, with high risk and the price it will pay, to make its full contribution to holding an event that transcends sports and culture and invaluably influences unity at the global level, which is always important, especially during the pandemic, Krivokapić said.

PM Krivokapić thanked Japan for the help and solidarity it showed during the coronavirus pandemic, emphasising that he would like the two countries to deepen cooperation in various fields, such as economy, education, science and technology and infrastructure.

Prime Minister Suga said that Japan is determined to take measures to control the infection and host the safe Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Prime Minister Suga said that Japan supports Montenegro's economic and social reforms, as well as its European path, emphasising that he would like Japan and Montenegro to strengthen relations. He expressed expectations for Montenegro's participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajić, who studied at Osaka and Saitama University as a Japanese Government Scholarship holder.
