Krivokapić, Zorčič: Slovenia will continue to support Montenegro's European path

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić met in Ljubljana with President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Igor Zorčić.

PM Krivokapić said that good communication at the bilateral level is evident at the international level as well. "We want to further strengthen our relations in order to give impetus to better economic cooperation," the Prime Minister said.

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Igor Zorčič agreed with the assessment of Prime Minister Krivokapić and said that they have good cooperation with the Parliament of Montenegro. He said that the implementation of reforms in the area of the rule of law is very important on the European path. Zorčić also said that Montenegro is an untapped potential, adding that it is necessary to valorise the northern parts of Montenegro, especially Žabljak and Durmitor.

Prime Minister Krivokapić assessed that Slovenia's Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July 2021 is a chance for Montenegro and pointed out that expert and all other assistance in the field of European integration is very important for Montenegro's integration process.

PM Krivokapić expressed the belief that the Government of Montenegro will do everything to complete the negotiation process by the end of the mandate.

The officials agreed that Montenegro is a leader in the EU integration process, and that it will become the first next member of the European Union.

Before the meeting, Prime Minister Krivokapić signed the Golden Book, which is a tradition when it comes to high-ranking guests of the Slovenian National Assembly.
