Radovan Kostić was born on April 13, 1979 in Nikšić, Montenegro, where he finished elementary and high school.

Education and professional training

He graduated from the Military Academy in Belgrade, after which in 2001 was promoted to the rank of officer in the Armed Forces of Montenegro. He obtained the title of Master of Economic Sciences at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Montenegro. He successfully completed professional training at the Command and General Staff College in Kansas, United States of America, in 2017.

Work experience

He started his working career after graduating from the Military Academy in 2001 and performed the duties of platoon and company commander in the soldier training unit in Pljevlja, after which he moved to the military police unit in Podgorica from 2003 to 2010, where he performed the duties of company commander and deputy commander of battalion. During one-year engagement in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, during 2010/2011, he performed duties as a staff officer in the command of the ISAF forces. After returning from the mission, he continues his work engagement as a security and military police officer at the General Staff.

From 2014 to 2018, he was engaged in various duties at the Ministry of Defence. In the middle of 2018, he was sent for a four-year term in the military-diplomatic mission, covering the position of independent adviser in the National Representation of Montenegro in the Joint Command for Operations, Kingdom of Belgium. From the middle of 2022, he was Head of the Department for Security and Military Police in the General Staff, and from February 2024 he was appointed as Acting Director General of the Logistics Directorate in the Ministry of Defence.

He successfully attended a large number of domestic and foreign courses and training in the field of security, intelligence and counterintelligence, protection of persons and property, international humanitarian law, planning and military decision-making processes, peace support operations, fight against terrorism and others.

He speaks English.
