Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović met with Ambassador of Albania Ridi Kurtezi. Our countries have a common foreign policy priority - EU membership. We want to see our neighbours make progress on that path. Therefore, Montenegro will continue to share its experience from the negotiation process and thus provide support to Albania in fulfilling the conditions for joining the Union, said DPM Marović.

Marović informed Kurtezi about the current and planned activities in the field of European integration, emphasising that the focus of the work of the Government and the Ministry of European Affairs is fulfilling the interim benchmarks and obtaining final benchmarks in Chapters 23 and 24 by the end of the year.

She expressed expectation that all institutions and branches of government will do their part and that we will have tangible results in the area of the rule of law.

Ambassador Kurtezi congratulated Montenegro on being leader in the EU integration process.

He assessed that the relations between the two countries are friendly and that they can serve as an example to the entire region of the Western Balkans, emphasising that the Albanian minority has an important role in maintaining good neighbourly relations as a strong support for cooperation between the two countries.

The officials agreed that it is necessary to work on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
