Milutin Butorović in Kotor and Tivat: Inspection oversight in focus – ready for nautical season, fight against grey economy

President of the Coordination Body for Harmonisation and Monitoring of Inspection Oversight and Minister in the Government of Montenegro Milutin Butorović paid a working visit earlier today to the municipalities of Kotor and Tivat. The purpose of the visit was to agree on coordinated activities ahead of the summer tourist season through meetings with the mayors, Vladimir Jokić and Željko Komnenović.
It was jointly assessed that it is necessary to decisively put an end to the chronic problems burdening these coastal municipalities, with a particular focus on the specific challenges of each region.
The defined inspection priorities include the regulation of nautical tourism. One of the key priorities identified in Tivat is stricter control of anchorages and berths. In the coming period, inspection authorities will intensify monitoring in this area in order to ensure compliance with regulations in nautical tourism, prevent the illegal appropriation of maritime domain property, and enable the unhindered development of the elite tourism for which the municipality is recognised.
In Kotor, the focus will be on rigorous control of the sale of counterfeit goods and the elimination of all forms of illegal business activities, thereby protecting legitimate businesses and the state budget.
Through the work of the Coordination Body, the Government of Montenegro is reaffirming its determination to ensure a stable and well-regulated business environment. The focus on anchorages in Tivat and the grey economy in Kotor sends a clear message that irregularities will not be tolerated during the most important part of the tourist season, Minister Butorović stated.
This visit is part of a broader plan to tour coastal municipalities, through which the Government of Montenegro aims to ensure order and the highest quality of tourist services through strong cooperation with local governments.
