Montenegro is determined to show heartfelt solidarity with Ukraine. We believe that international support is important, as is humanitarian aid, which is a necessary act of humanity and compassion in difficult times. Therefore, Montenegro provided financial assistance, as well as humanitarian aid, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović at the European Humanitarian Forum in Brussels.

Speaking at the panel "Diplomacy for greater humanitarian access", Minister Radulović pointed out the importance of protecting civilians, the safety of humanitarian workers, as well as safe, fast and unhindered help to those who need it.

Montenegro, as well as most of the international community, called on the Russian Federation to allow safe corridors for civilians to evacuate and the rapid passage of humanitarian relief. We welcome and encourage the initiatives taken by the UN Commissioner for Human Rights in order to provide support to the Ukrainian authorities and alleviate the suffering of the people, said Minister Radulović.

Given the fact that refugees and migrants are the most vulnerable categories, he stressed that every society has a responsibility to provide them with adequate and dignified reception conditions, and that is, as he said, what Montenegrin society deeply believes in, and what our country has proven by its actions in the past, but also this time, by opening its door to refugees from Ukraine.

In addition to the adoption of the Decision providing temporary protection, as well as facilitated entry into our country for humanitarian reasons, Minister Radulović pointed out that numerous humanitarian activities have been initiated in Montenegro, with many individuals and social organisations in our country expressing solidarity and readiness to accept Ukrainian refugees.

Bearing in mind that humanity knows no borders, Montenegro will provide support to all Ukrainians seeking safe haven. Together with our European partners, we will continue to offer political, financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. These difficult times remind us of the importance of international cooperation and solidarity. We should unite our efforts more than ever and act together, said Radulović.
