More than €217,000 in fines issued during holiday inspection campaign

The 15th session of the Coordination Body for the harmonisation and monitoring of inspection supervision was held today, chaired by Minister without Portfolio Milutin Butorović.
The Coordination Body adopted the inspection services’ performance reports for May 2026 and reviewed the results of the intensified inspection campaign conducted during Montenegro’s Independence Day.
Between 20 and 24 May 2026, a coordinated joint inspection operation was carried out across 12 municipalities in connection with Independence Day, with the aim of strengthening compliance with regulations, protecting consumers and safeguarding the public interest during a period of increased holiday activities and heightened tourist traffic.
A total of 47 inspectors participated in the operation, representing the Tax Inspection, Labour Inspection, Sanitary Inspection, Tourism Inspection, Market Inspection and Food Safety Inspection services. Joint inspections were conducted in the municipalities of Podgorica, Kotor, Budva, Žabljak and Rožaje, while the Tax and Market Inspections, in line with their operational plans, also carried out controls in Bar, Ulcinj, Cetinje, Nikšić, Kolašin, Herceg Novi and Danilovgrad.
The five-day operation produced the following results:
- Total number of inspections conducted: 279
- Number of warnings issued: 17
- Number of decisions ordering the rectification of irregularities: 11
- Number of decisions prohibiting the sale of goods: 4
- Number of misdemeanour notices issued: 205
- Total amount of fines imposed: €217,390
The Chair and members of the Coordination Body assessed the operation as highly successful, both in organisational terms and in terms of the results achieved. It was noted that the high level of activity, as well as the number of irregularities identified in the field, confirms the need for continuous and coordinated action by all inspection services.
The session also considered a request submitted by the Director of the Bureau of Metrology for the implementation of a coordinated inspection operation.
The session was attended by Vladimir Đaković, Director of the Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs, who, under the agenda item “Current Issues”, outlined the challenges faced by the Administration’s inspection services in their daily work, ongoing efforts to strengthen staffing capacities, and planned future activities.
