National Council for the Fight against High-Level Corruption holds its fifth session

The Council will soon start publishing motorway documentation, continue to publish documentation on the allocation of apartments and loans to public officials, but also organise a press conference on the sale of state property in the previous period, it was announced after the fifth session of the National Council for the Fight against High-Level Corruption.

At today's session, the Draft Semi-Annual Report was adopted, which will be submitted to the Cabinet for adoption. The report states that the Council received 40 reports submitted by citizens or competent state bodies, and the Expert Body was directly conntacted by three whistleblowers who have more detailed information on cases within the competence of the Council, as well as several other persons.

To date, the Council has submitted 355 requests for information, to which 286 responses were received from state authorities, while 69 requests were not answered.

Also, the Report on submitted recommendations to state bodies was adopted. Namely, the Council sent a recommendation on the suspension of payments from the budget reserve, a recommendation for changes to the Decision on allocating apartments and loans to public officials, as well as a recommendation for importing databases of state administration bodies.

The Expert Team of the Council held two press conferences and informed the public about the misuse of state property related to the allocation of apartments and loans to officials.

Furthermore, the Council announced that the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare had given them information on the activities undertaken and plans related to the transparency of budget spending. In this regard, the Council decided to recommend to the Government of Montenegro to instruct the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare to prepare an analysis of the limitations for establishing a searchable internet database of budget expenditures.

In addition to the Chairman, the Deputy Prime Minister, the session was attended by members of the Council: Stevo Muk, Milan Popović, Janko Odović, as well as Head of the Expert Team of the Council Vanja Ćalović-Marković and Secretary of the Council Ana Rašović.
