Published on: May 8, 2021 8:00 PM Author: Office of the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić extended congratulations on 9 May - Europe Day and Victory Over Fascism Day, saying that Montenegro is strongly moving towards the EU.

"Being part of the European family is a strategic goal of the Government of Montenegro. We stand strongly on the European path and do everything to make Montenegro an orderly society. The EU's core values, such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, are values that Montenegro also cherishes. By keeping peace, we are building a better future for all our citizens," said Krivokapić.

Krivokapić emphasised that, although this year is also marked by the coronavirus, we have shown how important unity and solidarity are.

"The joint fight against this plague shows how important mutual cooperation and mutual support is, because only with joint forces can we win. The key idea of Schuman Declaration was cooperation in the economic field, which is still necessary in order to mitigate the consequences of the coronavirus," said Krivokapić.

The Prime Minister also said that 9 May is a day of joy of victory and European unification, but also a day of remembrance for all victims of totalitarianism and terror of National Socialism from which Europe emerged more humane and harmonious and became a leader on the path to a united humanity.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the Government will be committed to the implementation of reforms in the coming period, because we want to be the 28th member of the European Union.
