PM meets Qatar’s Finance Minister: Spajić to participate in Qatar Economic Forum, where Montenegro will present its potential ahead of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met today in Davos with the Minister of Finance of the State of Qatar, H.E. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.
As highlighted during the meeting, Montenegro and Qatar are interested in strengthening economic cooperation, an intention further confirmed by the Government’s decision to open an Embassy of Montenegro in the State of Qatar, based in Doha.
Minister Al Kuwari expressed his satisfaction with Qatar hosting Prime Minister Spajić at the Qatar Economic Forum in May this year.
The meeting resulted in an agreement to intensify cooperation with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and the Qatar Investment Advisory (QUAI), an institution that connects the Qatari public and private sectors, through the organisation of business forums.
In parallel, work is ongoing on agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and the protection of investments.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing a direct air connection between Montenegro and Qatar, specifically between Podgorica or Tivat and Doha.
It was noted that a route from Qatar could serve the entire Arabian Peninsula region, given Qatar’s position as a regional hub.
Highlighting that Montenegro is in the final phase of its EU accession negotiations, Prime Minister Spajić presented the country’s development plans and opportunities for participation in road infrastructure projects in Montenegro.
