Prime Minister's Office: Big thanks to everyone who is helping to deal with the health crisis

Published on: Mar 17, 2021 5:45 PM Author: Office of the Prime Minister

On the anniversary of the first confirmed coronavirus case in Montenegro, the Office of the Prime Minister of Montenegro extends condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in the past year. The previous period was marked by a relentless struggle for the health of citizens, from which, unfortunately, we did not always emerge victorious.

However, those who have been on the front line of defence from the very beginning are health workers, to whom we owe gratitude for everything they have done and are doing to save lives and help those who need health care.

This is also an opportunity to thank, on behalf of the Prime Minister's Office, educators for their persistence in transferring knowledge in unusual, imposed conditions so to speak, members of the security services (armed forces and police) and inspection services in the day-to-day fight aimed at enforcing laws and regulations and implementing health measures. We are no less grateful to the local utilities and volunteer associations for their support to our citizens, but also to the employees in the stores who bore a special burden of restrictions. Also to all businesspeople, organisations and individuals who in their own way helped and are helping to cope with the health crisis and overcome its consequences. Thanks also to the media guild and to everyone we may not have mentioned, but who understood, supported and contributed to facing the crisis that hit the whole world, including Montenegro.

We have no higher purpose than saving human lives, nor a greater obligation to direct all available capacities as an executive power towards its realization. This is a common struggle - a struggle of all of us as society. Therefore, there is no place for political wrangling over health situation.

Today, our everyday life is significantly different from what we are used to and what we wish for. Perhaps what was once implied is now a privilege, but Montenegrin society has the potential to emerge victorious from every trouble and storm. That will be the case this time also.

Therefore, our one-year struggle to preserve the health of citizens is accompanied by a strong struggle to preserve the economic substance and jobs as a prerequisite for ensuring high-quality life and faster recovery from the economic crisis.

Although no one can say for sure when this crisis will end, the Prime Minister and the entire Government are working hard to speed up vaccination against coronavirus, so that the lives of all Montenegrin citizens return to normal as soon as possible, and so that tourism potential of our country was maximally used in the upcoming season.

Convinced that we will all continue to contribute to overcoming the current situation as soon as possible, we once again call for solidarity and understanding in order to preserve health, as a precondition for further progress of society as a whole.
