As announced earlier this month by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, today marks the announcement of a public call for the preparation of the preliminary design for the Bar - Boljare highway, Andrijevica - Berane - Boljare section, spanning approximately 50 km. The project is funded by the Government of Montenegro, through Monteput.

According to the public call, the designer is obliged to create a preliminary design that, in terms of content, scope, technical solutions, and details, provides all the necessary information and conditions for the execution and completion of all works, as well as the procurement and installation of equipment, trial operation, and functional testing. The project must be designed to include all the works necessary for the complete functionality and completeness of the specified highway section.

A priority is the integration of modern technologies and systems compatible with the already built part of the Smokovac - Mateševo highway. This will ensure that the entity responsible for the maintenance and management of the highway does not face problems arising from the construction of differently designed and incompatible systems with the same function.

Additionally, this highway section represents a vital step in the development of Montenegro's infrastructure, promising improvement in the traffic network and regional connectivity. For reference, the Belgrade - South Adriatic route is a branch of the Trans-European Motorways (TEM) that connects the main TEM route (from Gdańsk to Athens and Istanbul) with the Adriatic Sea.
