He emphasised the importance of continuing with reforms and insisting on the rule of law, highlighting the excellent practice demonstrated in the December census last year in addressing important issues.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Milojko Spajić emphasised that he would continue to insist particularly on progress in reforms related to Chapters 23 and 24, which will be the first item on every Cabinet session, with a special focus on the efficient implementation of tasks.

The President of the European Council noted that the Growth Plan is a great opportunity for the accelerated development of Western Balkan countries, while Prime Minister Spajić added that it will be crucial for Montenegro to seize the opportunity to join the single European market, which could attract a large number of investors.

Prime Minister Spajić emphasised that Montenegro is ready to do its homework without any shortcuts and that the reforms will bring our country closer to the values and standards of EU member states.

The discussion highlighted that our country can be a true example that the enlargement process is alive and that meeting the benchmarks pays off.

The role of the European Political Community was also emphasised as a platform that can be used to promote the benefits of enlargement, such as stability for the EU and security for Western Balkan countries.

There were also discussions about the geopolitical situation due to the war in Ukraine, with an emphasis on Montenegro's full alignment with EU foreign policy. It was concluded that the approved support from the European Union, in the amount of an additional 50 billion euros, will be of great importance for Ukraine.
