Tanaka: Spajić is Montenegro’s best promoter in Japan

Montenegro’s National Day celebration was a great success, and your visit to Japan has become one of the most talked-about topics in our public discourse. You are the best promoter of Montenegro, said Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), during his meeting with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
During his visit to the headquarters of JICA in Tokyo, Prime Minister Spajić highlighted the strong and productive cooperation between Montenegro and Japan in the areas of culture and disaster risk reduction. He expressed hope that these projects will continue to evolve for the mutual benefit of both countries.
In recent years, our countries have had limited but highly successful cooperation in cultural exchange and disaster preparedness. I believe the conditions are now in place to broaden the scope of cooperation, particularly in infrastructure development and attracting investments, said Prime Minister Spajić.
In response, JICA President Tanaka expressed interest in supporting infrastructure projects in Montenegro, citing the country’s improved democratic governance and strengthened fiscal stability as a solid foundation for successfully developing transport infrastructure and implementing major capital projects.
In the context of discussions on promoting tourism, Tanaka emphasized the importance of Montenegro’s participation in EXPO 2025 and noted that Prime Minister Spajić’s visit has generated substantial interest among the Japanese public—an important factor in raising Montenegro’s visibility.
Montenegro’s National Day celebration was a great success, and your visit to Japan has become one of the most talked-about topics in our public discourse. You are the best promoter of Montenegro, Tanaka reiterated.
Both sides agreed that the Prime Minister’s official visit has created favorable political conditions for enhancing economic and tourism cooperation between Montenegro and Japan in the period ahead.
