The 40th Cabinet session – 9 February 2023

The Montenegrin Cabinet, at today's 40th session, chaired by Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, adopted the Decree on determining the period of conducting the population and housing census and the reference census moment. The Decree established that the period of conducting the population and housing census is from 1 to 15 November 2023, while the reference census moment in Montenegro is 31 October 2023 at 24:00.

The Cabinet adopted the Decision on imposing international restrictive measures adopted by the Council of the European Union in view of the situation in Belarus and the involvement of Belarus in the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The Cabinet adopted the Information on the intention of the Government of Montenegro to purchase remaining offered shares owned by minority shareholders of the Port of Bar, with a total value up to the amount of 500,000 euros, at a maximum price of EUR 0.90 per share.

The Cabinet adopted the Information on improving air connectivity and the proposal of the Decision on supplementing the list of strategic routes. The current list with 14 strategic routes will be supplemented with three new ones: Podgorica – Marseille, Podgorica – Dublin, and Podgorica – Weeze.

The Cabinet adopted the Information on encouraging space exploration and the development of related technologies. At the initiative of Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, the Ministry of Science and Technological Development undertook activities to create necessary preconditions for encouraging space exploration and development of related technologies in Montenegro. As Montenegro is on its European path, it is necessary to align its national policy in the field of research and innovation with the EU policy.

The Information on the possibilities and the need to establish a state telecommunications operator in Montenegro was presented to the Cabinet. The Cabinet formed a Working Group in charge of preparing the information that will contain the data necessary for the assessment of the possibility of establishing a state telecommunications operator.
