The case of the beach area in Baošići

Milutin Butorović, Minister without Portfolio and President of the Coordination Body for the Harmonization and Monitoring of Inspection Supervision, held an urgent meeting regarding cases of unauthorized construction in the Municipality of Herceg Novi, with particular emphasis on the beach area in Baošići owned by “Carine” D.O.O.
The meeting was attended by representatives of key institutions and inspection authorities: Petra Zdravković, Director of the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Properties; Mladen Mikijelj, Director of the Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro, and Miljana Miljanić, Head of the Service for the Regulation and Development of the Coastal Zone within the Public Enterprise for Coastal Zone Management of Montenegro; Vesna Bigović, Acting Director General of the Directorate for Inspection Supervision at the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development; Svetlana Živković, Head of the Department for Environmental Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment, and Marko Medenica, Head of the General, Financial and Human Resources Service, representing the Environmental Protection Agency; as well as inspectors for cultural properties, construction inspection, maritime navigation safety inspection, and the Water Administration.
During the meeting, the participants presented, within the scope of their respective competences and authorities, the course of actions undertaken and measures imposed in relation to the identified cases of unauthorized construction.
It was concluded that the enforcement of the Decision on restoration to the previous state, issued by the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Properties, falls within the jurisdiction of that institution, and that concrete activities for its implementation have already been undertaken.
Particular focus of the discussion was placed on finding solutions and establishing good practice through the implementation of the law and strengthened inspection supervision, in order to prevent similar situations from recurring in the future.
