Spajić: From Pljevlja to Podgorica in about two hours of driving

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević, and Director of the Transport Administration Radomir Vuksanović attended today’s opening of the Vrulja – Mijakovići road section (Municipality of Pljevlja).

This is a 7.5-kilometre section for which the state invested more than 7.5 million euros (€7,697,497.53 including VAT). The works included the construction of a 6.50-metre-wide carriageway and two bridges, 128 and 160 metres long.

The Vrulja – Mijakovići road we opened today reduces the travel time from Pljevlja to Podgorica by about half an hour – to just over two hours of driving. This section is important not only for improving connectivity between Pljevlja and the central region of Montenegro, but also for more balanced regional development, as it opens an entirely new perspective for this area in terms of tourism and economic growth, said Prime Minister Milojko Spajić during today’s opening ceremony.

He emphasized that the construction of new road infrastructure provides the entire north with a development boost, which will gain full momentum with the construction of the second section of the Bar–Boljare highway.

The New Year will also bring the start of works on the Pljevlja–Dajevića Han road section, while the reconstruction of the bridge over the Tara River will give this part of Montenegro a whole new dimension in tourism. Together with all other projects the Government will finance in Pljevlja, we will give a strong infrastructural impetus and deliver the kind of investments the citizens of Pljevlja have long deserved, the Prime Minister stressed.

Otvaranje puta Vrulja - Mijakovići - kadrovi

Today, we proudly open the new Vrulja – Mijakovići road section, 7.5 km long, representing an important step forward in improving the transport connectivity of the Municipality of Pljevlja. In addition to building this road, we are implementing several other projects in Pljevlja. The reconstruction of the Đurđevića Tara bridge is ongoing, and early next year we are starting works on the regional road Pljevlja – Dajevića Han, worth €4.7 million. We also plan to reconstruct the Pljevlja – Metaljka road, with a total length of 15 km. These projects confirm our commitment to modernising the road network and ensuring balanced development of northern Montenegro, said Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević.

Director of the Transport Administration Radomir Vuksanović stated that after completing the road sections from Pljevlja toward Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the construction of the Vrulja – Mijakovići road has now also been finalised, significantly reducing travel time from Pljevlja to Podgorica. He also announced that early next year works will begin on the reconstruction of the road from Pljevlja to Dajevića Han.
