Bilateral Relations/Diplomatic Relations Overview

Montenegro and the Republic of Indonesia traditionally develop their relations in the spirit of friendship.

The Republic of Indonesia officially recognized Montenegro on the 24th of July 2006, and the diplomatic relations were established on the 21st of September 2011.

On the 13th of May 2019, Mochamad Chandra Widya Yudhi, the non-residential Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Montenegro (with the residence in Belgrade), presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović.

The Embassy of Montenegro in Beijing also covers the Republic of Indonesia.

Political Contacts

A delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia, led by the Chairman of the Committee on Inter - Parliamentary Cooperation Fadli Zon, paid an official visit to Montenegro on November 16, 2021.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia paid a working visit to Montenegro on March 19 and 20, 2018. On that occasion, a visit was organized to the municipality of Niksic and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center "Technopolis" in Niksic, and a business forum was held on "Strengthening Indonesian-Montenegrin relations" in Budva, in order to better connect and identify potential areas for cooperation between the two countries.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

The volume of trade between Montenegro and Indonesia in 2021 amounted to 4.8 mil. euros and referred only to imports.

According to “Monstat”, no tourist arrivals from Indonesia were recorded.

According to the Central Bank of Montenegro, no investments from Indonesia were recorded.
