Visa regime
Nationals of Montenegro are required to obtain a visa to enter Kuwait.
Visa may be obtained from the Embassy of Kuwait in Belgrade, the Republic of Serbia.
Bilateral Relations/Diplomatic relations Overview
Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the State of Kuwait are traditionally good and friendly and are based on respect, mutual understanding and the principles of openness.
The State of Kuwait recognized Montenegro on July 27, 2010, when diplomatic relations were established.
Yusuf Ahmed Abdulsamad became the Ambassador of Kuwait to Montenegro on a non-resident basis, based in Belgrade in June 2015. The first non-resident Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, Fawzi Abdulazis Al-Jasem, performed the duty in the period 2013-2015.
The Embassy of Montenegro in the UAE is accredited to the State of Kuwait on a non-resident basis.
Political Contacts
Political contacts are made mainly on the sidelines of international conferences and gatherings.
On September 16, 2015, a delegation of the 5th Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Kuwait, led by President Faisal Fahad Al Shay, visited Montenegro.
Economic Cooperation / International Trade
Total commodity exchange with the State of Kuwait in the period January - December 2020 amounted to 19.1 thousand €, of which import was 0,9 thousand €, and export 18,2 thousand €. In 2019, commodity exchange amounted to 11.45 thousand €, of which import was 1.25 thousand. €, and export 10.2 thousand €.
Foreign direct investments from the State of Kuwait in the period January-October 2021 amounted to 909.24 thousand. €. while in 2020 (January - September) they amounted to 388.9 thousand. €; in 2019 they amounted to 191.97 thousand €.
