Visa regime

Citizens of Montenegro can enter, transit through, and stay in Kyrgyzstan for up to 30 days within any sixty-day period with a valid travel document, without a visa. For stays longer than the specified period, it is necessary to obtain a visa of the appropriate category.

Diplomatic relations

Relations between Montenegro and the Kyrgyz Republic have not yet been framed open to diplomatic and consular missions, official visits or signed bilateral agreements, but mutual interest has already been shown for their development and the first steps towards implementation have been taken.

On June 24, 2009, the Kyrgyz Republic recognized Montenegro as an independent and sovereign state, when diplomatic relations were established by exchanging diplomatic notes.

* States are not represented diplomatically, even on a non-resident basis. All communication takes place through the Embassy of Montenegro and the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Moscow.

Encounters on the margins

On May 16, 2011, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting "Global Governance and Security Council Reform" in Rome.

On December 2, 2009, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Kadirbek Telmanović Sarabjev on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Conference in Athens.

On December 4, 2008, Montenegrin Foreign Minister Milan Rocen met with then-Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ednan Karabayev on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Conference in Helsinki.
