VISA REGIME

Nationals of Montenegro may enter, pass through and stay in Latvia for up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.

DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Montenegro and Latvia, as small countries with many similarities in terms of historical challenges, have a strong friendship. In addition to a formal alliance in NATO, relations between the two countries are characterized by Latvia's strong support for Montenegro's reform efforts on the path to EU membership.

Latvia recognized Montenegro's independence on June 12, 2006, and diplomatic relations were established on June 19, 2006.

The Embassy of Montenegro in Warsaw is in charge of the diplomatic representation of Montenegro in the Republic of Latvia. It currently operates at the level of charge d'affaires a.i.

BILATERAL HIGH LEVEL MEETINGS

ECONOMIC COOPERATION

In 2020, the total commodity exchange with Latvia amounted to EUR 714 thousand out of which EUR 713 thousand worth imports, and insignificantly EUR 1,000 worth of exports. In 2019, the total commodity exchange with In 2019, imports from Latvia were 930 thousand euros, while exports were insignificant (1,000 euros).

In 2020, direct investments from Latvia to Montenegro amounted to EUR 783 thousand. In 2019, investments from Latvia amounted to EUR 845 thousand.

In 2020, there were 101 tourists from Latvia who visited Montenegro, and this resulted in total 374 overnight stays. In 2019, there were 1,637 tourists from Latvia who visited Montenegro, and this resulted in total 7,330 overnight stays.
